A small Italian town of 120 people, happens to be in the middle of racing on a small road from point A to B, and people race through all the time... nearly 60,000 in only 2 weeks. That's what a speed camera found, but it was only measuring stats, not issuing tickets

See More Mayor Allesandro Allesandri said that one in three vehicles were caught breaking the 31 mph speed limit, with the worst hitting 84 mph on the twisty mountain pass route, which is a popular spot for illegal motorcycle racing.

Above you see the main pedestrian crossing... which no one has simply figured out ought to be a bridge. No people walking across the road, no people get hit. It's that simple. But, since people must walk across the road, they must get highway traffic to slow the hell down.

On average someone sped through every 3 minutes, and if that's not enough to upset the residents, the worst offenders are zipping through nearly three times the posted limit because this highway, state highway SS28, has fewest speed bumps, speed radars and tolls.

Imagine how much money they could make with a couple cops stopping the speeders and fining them? Writing tickets is ok too, but people don't bother paying those unless they're local. Anyone else just avoids that place in the future

It's on the first road inside Italy that runs North from the coast, and that probably has a lot to do with the high amount of traffic on that road just passing through.

That black line on the left of the red indicator is the border of France

two letters to truth

Speed cameras in Australia don't allow for the margin of error in speedmeters, tire inflation, or human error.. they just issue you a ticket.

Just posted about this last week http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2016/01/speed-cameras-have-zero-tolerance-and.html

greed cameras... have zero tolerance, and no margin for error factor. But they are money makers for the govt

Why a margin for error factor? Because the variation in the tire pressure from hot summer to winter cold snap (I've seen 100 degree difference in 1 day) can change the speedometer reading to actual speed over ground by 10%.

A cop won't bother pulling over anyone for just 2 kph, or mph, because they are instructed to stop people speeding in the higher fine brackets. Like 10 to 15 mph over, when the fine doubles.

Belgium speed camera news

The vans are in Belgium accounted for a quarter of the speed fines, even though they make up only fifteen percent of all vehicles on our roads.

Police wrote last year 3.34 million speed fines. About 836,000 of them were drivers of commercial vehicles.

Truckers and commercial vehicles are such a big percent, because the govt can just fine the company that owns the vehicle. I'm guessing they have to get the driver of a pov, not the owner, to pay a speeding find. It was the way the monkey costume guy in Arizona beat 45 tickets. He left the monkey mask in his car, and no matter who was driving, they wore the mask, and the speed camera was unable to show police who the driver was

More than 16,000 drivers fined in roadworks on E40 between Brussels and Ghent from this past Monday to this Thursday. About 4 thousand per day

Between last Monday and Thursday are more than 16,000 vehicle drivers caught speeding in the passing of the roadworks on the E40 and Wetteren between Erpe Mere. "It then only involves the findings with the zone in the direction of Ghent and the coast," says Michel Van Butsele, head of the federal traffic police of East Flanders.

Chicago balances it's budget with estimated income from speeding ticket cameras, and failed to raise enough money. Yeah, all about safe driving, sure. Not for profit at all. Right

Over the last year Chicago's Mayor flooded the city with speed cameras in the proximity to schools and parks because it was estimated that the revenue to be collected was upwards of $100 million but good drivers set back this greedy political goal $50 million.

The tickets come with a $100 sticker price and the residents of Chicago got wise to this scam real quick.

Keep in mind, while installing all the speeding ticket cameras, they also shortened the stop light yellows illegally and put in stop light cameras.... and got busted for that just 2 weeks ago http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2014/10/good-ol-chicago-political-corruption.html

This is a perfect example of how the system never sets out to prevent crime, they only wish to control it for profit. A report done by Chicago Inspector General Joe Ferguson, maintained “the City cannot prove red-light camera locations are based on safety considerations.”
