what is it called when several interesting things collide at one time of interest? Synchronicity, a term coined by Carl Jung, or maybe Concurrent

Dalis Car, the music duo of Murphy and Karn, made an album of music, and used Maxfield Parrish's most famous painting for the album cover... as you can sell about anything if you slap incredible art on it, (ie, advertising) referencing Salvador Dali, because Murphy had a friend that had dreamed of buying a car from Dali https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalis_Car

Dali's vehicles, which I've thoroughly explored  (VW Bug, Datsun, Cadillac, etc https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search?q=dali) and ,

So, music, art, and cars. Bingo: obscure music album no one ever heard of, The Waking Hour, made in 1984, which might have been trying to get people to buy it my mistake, as it was using the Parrish painting Daybreak, which was used the year before by the Moody Blues

Daybreak by Parrish, is the most popular art print of the 20th century, based on number of prints made: one for every four American homes.

According to the National Museum of American Illustration, it has outsold Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans and Leonardo's Last Supper.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daybreak_(painting) the models were his regular models, Kitty Owen (granddaughter of William Jennings Bryan), and Parrish's daughter, and the 16 year old nanny of his son, who then modeled for him, then they had an affair, then his wife and son left him, and the young woman stayed with him until age 71

Mel Gibson's wife bought it for 7.6 million. Sold it for 5.2

Mel's son in law is Kenny Wayne Shepherd, a Mopar guy, and motivator to Year One to remake the Road Runner horn. https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search/label/Kenny%20Wayne%20Shepherd and KWS has a logo made by Foose  https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2010/11/kenny-wayne-sheppards-newest-mopar-and.html for his '63 Super Stock 330 Dodge.

KSW is most famous for a song, Blue on Black, that is my favorite of his music, and it was rereleased for a charity fundraiser for the Gary Sinise Foundation, and the metal gods got Brian May of Queen to do a guitar solo in it...  https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2019/04/coffee-and-dunts-video-these-artists.html and I'm sure we all respect the hell out of Gary Sinise!

And this incredible heavy metal remake is similar to the remake of Sound of Silence, which was amazingly performed by Disturbed in 2015.... the gradual strengthening and build up is amazing.

I have all that cluttering my brain. Is it any wonder I get so little done? I wasted over an hour just drilling into this to post, because of the many things I like so much, all coming together at once, in this Dalis Car use of Maxfield Parrish's painting.

For similar stings of things, see Connections, one of my favorite tv shows, a series of science documentaries created by James Burke
It is known for showing how seemingly unrelated events and discoveries throughout history are interconnected and led to modern technology, because of its engaging presentations, and the "aha!" moments it provides by revealing the connections between past events and present-day inventions, scientific discoveries and historical events building upon one another to create modern technology.

The show creator and host, James Burke, traces the links between diverse historical events, scientific achievements, and the inventions we use today.
Example: The series might show how 18th-century merchant concerns about ship bottoms led to the creation of nylon, or how medieval European use of fire in winter contributed to the development of the motor car.
It's enthusiastic and humorous presentation, historical re-enactments, and detailed working models, resulted in it being a widely considered as a classic documentary series.

Thanks to Doug for telling me about a post on Curbside (good blog for over a decade) about a grammy nominated country singer, Neko Case, and her song about a Rambler American

I can't add anything to the outstanding post that Curbside Classic did.... I can only share it so you don't miss it if you want to be wowed by a deep country sounding song about a Rambler American

Like my parents, hers weren't together long. She was emancipated at 15. And my parents had a Rambler before the divorce, and Neko had one that she liked so much that she wrote that song.

She taught herself to drive at 18, in a 64 Falcon she bought for 350! Since she didn't have a license or insurance, she only went out at night to reduce her risk with running afoul of cops!

She sold the Falcon, and got the Rambler for 50! "Its radio glowed aqua blue-green, and I listened to the oldies station "

Whoa... I've never heard this song before (radio stations never play anything but the 5 highest rated songs from any group, it seems) but the video is just as cool as the lyrics! Thank you Raymond G!

this is the Tarf  made by Piero Taruffi before the tails were added

is what it looks like with good photography instead of very low early video recordings

and the Rolligon!

"I'm In Love With My Car"

The machine of a dream
Such a clean machine
With the pistons a-pumpin'
And the hubcaps all gleam

When I'm holding your wheel
All I hear is your gear
With my hand on your grease gun
It's like a disease son

I'm in love with my car
Gotta feel for my automobile
Get a grip on my boy racer rollbar
Such a thrill when your radials squeal

Told my girl I have to forget her
Rather buy me a new carburettor
So she made tracks sayin' this is the end now
Cars don't talk back they're just four-wheeled friends now

When I'm holding your wheel
All I hear is your gear
When I'm cruisin' in overdrive
Don't have to listen to no run-of-the-mill talk jive

I'm in love with my car
(Ooh, I'm in love with my car)
Gotta feel for my automobile
I'm in love with my car
(Ooh, I'm in love with my car)
String-back gloves in my automolove!

Have you seen the new video for Black Sabbath, War Pigs? Makes me think of Ukraine

and by the way, Dave Letterman went to Ukraine and interviewed Pres Zelenskyy, and that is powerful stuff, but the young woman he talked with briefly in the subway? Looked a lot like this young actress

A Russian missile strike on train station in Ukraine, to kill civilians trying to get the hell out of the war zone... no shit. 50 dead, 100 injured Coincidentally, Pink Floyd gets together to play with a Ukrainian, so - here's that

“The frustration of seeing that and thinking ‘what the fuck can I do?’ is sort of unbearable,” Gilmour, who has a Ukrainian daughter-in-law and grandchildren, said.

The English performer said that he phoned his bandmates, who agreed to get on board with the effort.

“I wouldn’t do this with many more things, but it’s so vitally, vitally important that people understand what’s going on there and do everything within their power to change that situation,” he said. “And the thought, also, that mine and Pink Floyd’s support of the Ukrainians could help boost morale in those areas: they need to know the whole world supports them.”

Proceeds from the song will go to Ukrainian humanitarian relief, the band said.

the video on Pink Floyd's Twitter post has English captions https://twitter.com/pinkfloyd/status/1512385065766076417

Why is a car guy posting it? It's news, it's Nick Mason, and it's the right thing to do

Ukrainian President Zelenskiy called the missile strike in Kramatorsk in the eastern region of Donetsk a deliberate attack on civilians. The town's mayor estimated about 4,000 people were gathered there at the time.

Regional governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said the station was hit by a Tochka U short-range ballistic missile containing cluster munitions, which explode in mid-air, spraying small lethal bomblets over a wider area. read more

"They wanted to take as many civilians as possible," he said, adding that evacuations by rail from the region, where Ukrainian officials are anticipating a new thrust by Russian forces, would continue.

Reuters was unable to verify what happened in Kramatorsk, because there's a fucking war going on with missiles blowing up civilian evacuation train stations, I'd like to make clear

Cluster munitions are banned under a 2008 convention.

I haven't ever come across Grace Jones song "Pull Up To My Bumper" until now.... what an 80s flashback

Driving down those city streets
Waiting to get down
Won't you get your big machine
Somewhere in this town?

Now in the parking lot garage
You'll find the proper place
Just follow all the written rules
You'll fit into the space

Pull up to my bumper baby
 In your long black limousine
Pull up to my bumper baby
And drive it in between

Pull up
To it
Don't drive
Through it

Back it
Up twice
Now that
Fit's nice

Operate around the clock
 Why don't you come in?
I've got lot's of space for everyone
Why don't you my friend?

Lines are short
I'll pick you up so won't you please come on
Shiny sleek machine
believe It I've got to blow your horn

Pull up to my bumper baby
In your long black limousine
Just pull up to my bumper baby
 And drive it in between

Pull up
To it
Don't drive
Through it

Back it
Up twice
Now that
Fit's nice

Race it
Straighten it
 Let me
Lubricate

(Pull up to my bumper baby)
Pull up to my bumper

someone chose a cool 69 Barracuda with extra cool slotted mags for a cute catchy new song's music video

notice she has the respect and consideration to not wear her heels while her feet are on the hood. I dig that!

I learned there is also an animated version of the song, sans rapper guy, with a Mazda Cosmo

that is a hell of a coincidence that she has three videos for a song and they all have a pre 1970 cool car

Marc points out that it's this car, and he's right!

road trip music video with Ed Sheeran and friends, to the song Graffiti Overpass

This is a dark parade
Another rough patch to rain on, to rain on
I know your friends may say
This is a cause for celebration, hip-hip-hooray, love
Photographs in sepia tones
It's so still, the fire's barely fighting the cold, alone
There are times when I can feel your ghost
Just when I'm almost letting you go
The cards were stacked against us both
I will always love you for what it's worth
We'll never fade like graffiti on the overpass
And I know time may change the way you think of us
But I'll remember the way we were, you were the first full stop
Love that will never leave
Baby, you will never be lost on me
This is a goddamn shame
I never wanted to break it, or leave us tainted
Know I should walk away
But I just can't replace us, or even erase us
The car was stuck, the engine stalled
And both of us got caught out in the snow, alone
There were times when I forget the lows
And think the highs were all that we'd ever known
The cards were stacked against us both
I will always love you for what it's worth
We'll never fade like graffiti on the overpass
And I know time may change the way you think of us
But I'll remember the way we were, you were the first full stop
Love that will never leave
Baby, you will never be lost on me
Lost on me
Baby, you will never be lost on me
Lost on me
Well, I will always love you for what it's worth
We'll never fade like graffiti on the overpass
And I know time may change the way you think of us
But I'll remember the way we were, you were the first full stop
Love that will never leave
Baby, you will never be lost on me

Learning to Fly lyrics... I'll be darned, I never paid attention to the words before

Into the distance a ribbon of black
Stretched to the point of no turning back
A flight of fancy on a windswept field
Standing alone my senses reeled
A fatal attraction is holding me fast how
How can I escape this irresistible grasp?

Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue tied and twisted just an earth bound misfit, I

Ice is forming on the tips of my wings
Unheeded warnings I thought I thought of everything
No navigator to find my way home
Unladened, empty and turned to stone

A soul in tension that's learning to fly
Condition grounded but determined to try
Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I
Friction lock, set
Mixtures, rich
Propellers, fully forward
Flaps, set, ten degrees
Engine gauges and suction, check

Mixture set to maximum percent, recheck
Flight instruments
Altimeters, check both

(Garbled word) on
Navigation lights, on
Strobes, on
Confirm three-eight-echo ready for departure
Hello again, this is now 129.4
129.4, it's to go
You may commence your takeoff, winds over ten knots
Three-eight-echo
Easy on the brakes, take it easy, its gonna roll this time
Just hand the power gradually, and it

Above the planet on a wing and a prayer,
My grubby halo, a vapor trail in the empty air
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye
A dream unthreatened by the morning light
Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night

There's no sensation to compare with this
Suspended animation, a state of bliss
Can't keep my mind from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I
