Coffee and donuts video, One of the best of these Barn Find Hunter videos of watching Tom Cotter wander through private junkyards and abandoned cars, with an amazing variety from tri power Olds, to 63 VW splitty vans, and VW bugs, to T birds, and Model As

This time he found a gold mine. A daughter shows Tom Cotter around her dad's junkyard, and garages, which have been sitting lost in time since the early 70s. Some of their family cars wound up here, and several cars that her dad scored, like a 53 Cadillac, Ford Victorias, Rancheros and station wagons, convertibles, that he parked in barns and garage stalls.

A must see video that explores a collection being sorted out and saved by family members, with the junk being sent to the scrap heaps, and the great stuff being saved.

Skip the first 12 minutes, though it's ok, it's wasting your time. Get right to the good stuff!

And the WONDERFUL shocking thing about it all? It's only 5 miles away from Hagerty headquarters in Traverse City Michigan! Why's that great? This collection can get extra love and attention from the people that care so damn much about cool old cars!

Just bought off Craiglist in Topeka, from the original owner, a real Twister Special Ranchero GTs with a 429CJ and Drag Pack

of the 201 1970 Ranchero GTs made with the 429CJ, 60 were Drag Pack, and only 2 were Twister Specials

the original owner parked it in 1977, and sold the engine in 1979. The car sat around his place for nearly 40 years until he decided to sell it. That's sort of unusual.

and it was at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals

the last pinstripping on a car Von Dutch did, is either Bob Langdon's Ranchero or John Harvey's 36 coupe. He was doing motorcycles, that's what he preferred at that time of his life

Von Dutch told Bob that he was done with pinstriping, but some persistance, and some gifts, and Von Dutch went at it on this 57 Ranchero, in 1988. He died in 1989...

Why this appears no where online, I have no idea. It's in the Oct 2008 Car Kulture Deluxe, but not on their website.

it's also mentioned in  Von Dutch: The Art, the Myth, the Legend By Pat Ganahl

Mustangs from special promotions department of Ford could be ordered for limited run models

In 1969 there was a racetrack company, American Raceways International (contradiction?) that owned 5 racetracks, Atlanta, Eastern, Michigan, Riverside, and Texas.

They contracted Ford to build pace cars for their NASCAR tracks, 5 convertibles and 5 Mach 1s.

The convertibles were going to be the real pace cars, and were geared for 155mph

Part of the deal was that 100 428 Super Cobra Jet cars with special side stripes and ARI graphics.

Then ARI went bankrupt, leaving Ford with 10 cool cars, and quite an investment in the developement work.

Kansas City sales district picked up on the cars and took them all off the hands of the promotions dept, as well as 100 Torinos with 429 Cobra Jets, These became what we know as the Twister Specials.

Ford ended up building 96 Mach 1, 1/2 were 351 Cleveland, and the other 1/2 were 428 Super Cobra Jets... plus 90 429 CJ Torinos, and 4 Rancheros with Clevelands. The Mustangs didn't all get 428s because the company ran out of them, and had 351s to spare

dry lakes racer sold to Jim Lattin, and since day one it's not been street legal, only land speed racing legal.

that's the first time I've seen a speedometer with a sign painted over it... images from http://thegarageblog.com/garage/barn-find-ranchero-bonneville-racer-heading-to-museum/

I didn't know that Lattin was collecting land speed racers, or that his shop is in Pomona, while his collection is in Encinitas. I've wanted to see that collection for a while. Not going to happen is my best guess, but he brings some of his cars to a variety of shows http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search?q=lattin

that cool Ranchero of Galpin Ford was back at SEMA this year

the front end... wow. I think this was a great idea

Here's a new interesting way of having a license plate... might not make the cops happy, but I doubt they'd actually notice the plate when they look at this car

Hot Rod, Car Craft, and the El Segundo "Automobile Driving Museum" are teaming up for car shows this summer, next one is tomorrow Friday April 27th

Makes me wonder how happy Freiburger is that he doesn't have to store any of these at his place
Recently featured in the last 2 issues of Hot Rod magazine, this Ranchero was a tribute recreation of the late 1960's Hot Rod Magazine Ranchero that went off roading in the Carrera Panamerica (I think) and they intending this new one to go have fun in Alaska with. Yeah, intended, because that didn't happen. Instead they went to the Grand Canyon.

Freiburger's 1970 Super Bee, and I think that hemi was one of Ray Bartons dragster engines... way over the top for a street car, and they had to rebuild it and lower the crazy aspect of some parts becaue they couldn't make it streetable.

Boss 351 Ranchero, no, the factory never made one.... but when some people realize what should have been, they do the work themselves and demonstrate the innovative DIY spirit that makes this hobby fun

maybe I'm off my rocker, but doesn't this look like a Shelby Gt 350 bumper under a 68 Coronet grill? It's awesome!

Galpin, the largest Ford dealership in California I think they say in their advertising.

Cool Ranchero here in San Diego has on great display on the pickup bed

Those are great colors, pinstriping, and display. really nice guy too, he brings his Ranchero to a lot of local car shows, and its a thoroughly quality piece

The trophy is a pretty cool item, handmade trophys are awesome in my opinion, the storebought ones really leave a lot to be desired in most cases
