Edelbrock 1951 ad

So-Cal speed shop early advertising... humble beginnings!

What ever became of...

In the fine print it basically says "Send in a label from 'Carnu' wax and the name you recommend, for this custom that will be given to Ted Williams"

Serviceman in Iraq wanted a penpal... way back in 1951, I wonder if he got one?

new comment on the Ron Pratt collection.. thanks to Annonymous, it's appreciated. Can you tell us if the collection will ever be public?

The collection is all together now in a magnificen... The collection is all together now in a magnificent museum with a 50 car mezzanine over looking the main floor. 66,000 tiled sq ft in all. Ron hung all of the hundreds of vintage signs, clocks and pictures himself. Great guy. Not a lot of words but a lot of action. He took care of my dad during his cancer treatments for 5 years.

"the law of tonnage" in effect

Where the car with the most tons wins

Ever see these before?

Kelsey Hayes, a really old rim company. Reminds me of http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2006/11/ive-never-heard-of-these-holley-spark.html

Trivia: Why did the Model A follow the Model T?

The production model immediately before the Model T was the Ford Model S, an upgraded version of the company's largest success to that point, the Model N.

The follow-up was the Ford Model A and not the Model U.

Company publicity said this was because the new car was such a departure from the old that Henry wanted to start all over again with the letter A. As it happens, the first Plymouth car (1928), built by competitor Chrysler Corporation, was named the Model U.

The Hassler Shock Absorber

Used on the more top heavy Model T's.. .to keep the side to side sway down to a minimum

Southern California Mopar Spring Fling.. it's a beautiful weekend, in the 70's

Mopar engines... mild to wild... don't believe me? just look how scary they are!

Made her hair stand straight up when some-one lit off a Hemi

Spring Fling (and Fall Fling too) are all Mopar . Full swap meet of Dodge Plymouth and Chrysler parts.. just look at this ONE vendors stuff

Big and small blocks, by year, size and cost. Most impressively, they are all individually ready to fire off. Battery and fuel were already connected

Very well thought out paint job, and humourous touches... great transporter paint scheme too

A variety of Mopars at Spring Fling

A rare convertible 68 GTS Dart

love the color

an A12 69 1/2 Super Bee
I'm guessing you've never heard of the VIP model

Hmmm.. I like the hood stripe, even on this '70 Satellite wagon

Clever tribute to the Sam Posey '70

great homemade air box

Mr Norm's traveling car show was at Spring Fling

Formerly a US Navy owned vehicle...interesting

This owner was obsessed with a specifically optioned 68 Road Runner, located one, and had a wreck restored by L&L restorations

They spell it right out.

A MINIMUM of $15,000 for a freshen up, MINIMUM of $30,000 for a 10 footer, and MINIMUM of $60,000 for a full restoration.

Those are pretty accurate prices for good work, and I don't argue the cost. If you do it yourself, and just have the parts and materials for expenses it costs about 1/2 of those prices at a MINIMUM. So expect that sort of costs for getting an old Mopar back into shape

That is a dead rat that got caught in the bottom of a seat

Wasp nests on the visors

That is the trans on the floor

before and afters of the upper drivers side firewall.

The Petty Nascar Charger... looks like a no expense spared restoration

Something mighty intriguing under there.

For the website, full documented history of this Buddy Baker / Richard Petty race car: http://www.mopardealer.com/ the Petty Blue paint was straight from Petty Enterprises http://www.mopardealer.com/petty3.htm

My thanks to Steve Wall

For correcting me when I thought it was a tribute car.

Chrysler Airflow was a unexpected show up at Spring Fling

My favorite banner photos (top of this webpage)

If you have a moment, could you tell me which one you like the most? I have 2 other posts just showing the banner photos, and might just have one banner permanently instead of switching it frequently... from this post or these other two links: http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2009/09/some-photos-that-turned-out-really-good.html and http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2009/09/banner-possiblities-from-mopar-show.html

At Spring Fling, CHP brought out a display... why?

I dig the 70's Mopar cop car... and that it was a magazine feature car for it's impeccable restoration.. but why does CHP show up to a car show? They aren't the friendliest bunch on the road... just ask anyone who has ever been pulled over, been caught in a traffic jam and been redirected around a wreck, etc etc Why come to a car show to try recruit new officers?

Dave's Charger now has a very healthy 360, built by Aaron of JBA

This window sheet is up here for reference for those of us with a 69 R/T... mine is #222100, a bit later in the production, but not by much

Off the beaten path (even for Mopars), Sport Satellite battle wagon, Imperial, Mirada, and "Animal House" Monaco tribute car

The above C body has a Pure Vision decal on the rear side window... and looks sharp as hell...

There aren't many great looking Dusters around anymore
