It sure is cool to find that there's still one more thing out there that is new to me, that I haven't come across before, something I can share with you - as maybe you haven't either

Revell began to fund the creations themselves, and their agreement with Roth was to sell models of his creations and pay him a commission.

The problem with the Wishbone was that its delicate front wheels and suspension was too fine for model maker Revell to recreate at a small scale,

Since they couldn’t sell a model of the Wishbone it proved a costly issue for Roth, with no way to recoup his considerable investment. His solution was chopping it up and discarding it, maybe that was more of a catharsis than a carefully considered business decision, but a member of the team, Dirty Doug, was quite fond of the vehicle, so he requested to keep it for himself.

Roth agreed under the condition it was never reassembled. Obviously, this promise was not kept and the car was pieced back together. Roth was upset, as now, he was incapable of making money with the creation after relinquishing ownership.

The car resurfaced in the early 1990s and was sold at Auction to the Tupelo Automobile Museum.

Of all of the oddball creations dreamed up within Big Daddy's workshop, the Wishbone stands out on its own being one of the only one to be powered by a Volkswagen Motor.

A sidewinder dragster I've never heard of before, with Roth Studios on the tailfin

http://georgeklass.net/dragsters.html

The second sidewinder product of Jones, Reed and Mailliard was the 100-inch “5 Cycle Special”, a more refined and sexier progression of the first sidewinder. Again powered by a blown Chrysler Hemi, this time with a Gilmer belt spinning the 6-71 blower, the short dragster was still chain-driven. This was a consistent 9-second car running over 160mph. With Jack Chrisman at the wheel both team’s sidewinders competed at the 1959 NHRA Nationals at Detroit Dragway, with this car going all of the way before losing in the final round.

Update, and serious Amazing... This is a Von Dutch piece... and the incredible series of coincidences were just what it took to get it identified - I'm gobsmacked

Here's the scoop!

Doug, god bless ya, knows George Bushmaster Schrieber, and emailed him to ask about this mask....

and here is the reply: (sit down for this!)

DOUG!
MY DEIST MASK!!! WHEN I WENT TO VON DUTCH"S HOUSE TO PICK UP MY HELMET, I HAD THE "DUTCHMAN" PAINT THE MONSTER FACE ON THE MASK!!! I WORE IT ONCE AT THE BEACH AND IT DIDN'T WORK AS THE CANOPY ON THE "FANG" HAD NO BREEZE THROUGH IT ON THE LINE AND I COULDN'T BREATHE---GOT ONE OF THE NEW "SIMPSONS" MASKS WITH FILTERS AS THE CANOPY WAS " AIR--NEGATIVE" !!! THANX AND THE BUSHMASTER STILL LUVS YA " !!!

So... is that not the most unreal thing of the year? A real no shit story from the only guy alive to know the facts, and only the strangest of coincidences put all the pieces in place for us to learn that this... is a Von Dutch piece of art... that no one knew of, or is alive to recall, except one guy!

So, my hat's off to Doug and George for sharing some incredible drag racing history with us!

designs of Baron, Roth, and Kelly paintjobs, the "Crazy Painters"

Baron was about 62 years old when his grandson Kelly, 13 yrs old talked him into getting into business together. Baron had pinstriped for Studebaker and Ford.  Roth went into the Air Force in 1951, they stationed him at a UFO tracking station in Morocco. No shit.

Roth, got out of the military and was jumping from job to job, or address to address, and somehow, I find this astonishing, had the same street number on different streets. 4616 Slauson, and 4616 Firestone.

Only Ed Roth could pull that off.
