the Citroen 2CV, introduced at the 1948 Paris Auto Show, and by 1950, the manufacturing was 6 years behind the orders, as the demand was unbelievable. The cost was too, only 200 pounds

Manufactured for about 40 years.

In the 1960s it cost about 1/2 as much as a VW Beetle

thanks Bruce!

  1. I've only seen one of these up close and personal. It belonged to a fellow student in Boston during the 60's. I laughed at the canvas sling seats but recoiled at the two gas tanks screwed to the floor, one under each front seat. I suppose in a crash it wouldn't matter because you'd be squashed like a bug anyway.

    1. nothing less than a tank is safe in a crash. Well, maybe the Tardis. Small cars like the Morgan, 2CV, VW Bug, etc... not much design or engineering in any of them to compensate for the effects of crashes.
