An online magazine, from the website Rod and Piston

http://www.rodandpiston.com/magazine/march2009/ is the magazine and is from http://www.rodandpiston.com/

No one would have thought 30 years ago that a junkyard would be facinating?

I wonder what that "Special Service" vehicle was for? ( the red van in the background in the photo above )
Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special
a 55 Chev I thought... but Dan nailed it! Buick! Now it reminds me of http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2009/01/oldsmobile-beauty-in-blue.html
1969 Mustang Sports roof?
I'd love to see photos of that moving company van

Saturday Evening Post, 1954 advertising

ever get the feeling that false advertising wasn't something that companies were sued for in the 1950's?

Scam warning

a scam that has been uncovered already, if you get an email from Star Position, or Robert Sexton,or Liz Monteroso, disregard it.

http://www.topix.com/forum/business/search-engines/TTTRPVQPI7NF0GM5D/p2 is a website for scam notifications, and these guys are busted for being frauds.

http://forums.seochat.com/seo-help-general-chat-16/do-you-use-starposition-com-71825.html has mad it clear to me, just like the emails I received from Liz, that these guys are frauds. Nothing can be proven to show that paying them results in the claims they make. In the old west, it was called "Snake Oil", in the medieval days it was known as "good luck charms", and now... we have scam and spam.

It's not the record winning #21 that Pearson drove in Nascar to 11 straight pole wins, and still holds the Darlington track record for most wins

The #21 David Pearson set records with has a 429 and is in the Darlington museum... is restored, and looks beautiful. This 351 Merc is likely a tribute car of a fans from the 70's. It was at the Auto Club 500 very recently http://www.rowdy.com/content/profile/blog/29050/auto-club-500-pt-2-raceday-pics

Pearson drove from 1960 through 1986, winning three championships despite rarely running a full Cup schedule. With 105 career victories and 113 poles, only Richard Petty -- who made many more starts -- ranks ahead of him in either category.

An Olds with history

Anyone recognize this carb? The air intake is on the far side

not just a big can of beer for a radiator catch can, but also to cap off the oil fill tube... cool!
if anyone can tell me what is the make of these carbs, I'll appreciate the education. I see the air gets into the carb on the sides... that flips me out. email direct to jbohjkl@yahoo.com or just add a note to the comments of this post... thanks!

this is the first time I've seen wrenches in the ashtray... I love it. It just visually hits you with truth. This machine was wrenched on, frequently, and the mechanic wasn't wasting time finding the damn wrench, he kept them on hand.

Breakfast at Balboa... show up early, it's full by 7am

the next event is April 26th... ( the last sunday). Then in May it will be the 16th

displaying pride in Olds history
