Proof to police that people aren't paying attention to driving, or even what's in front of them... when they hit the cop car door as a cop was about to get out

Conversely, it's proof the cop wasn't paying attention to traffic when he opened his door.

I don't open my door until I check that no traffic is coming..... don't you?

Obviously, people are morons, and not paying attention (see Exhibit A, just up the screen a couple inches) and I like that my car isn't damaged. I want to keep it that way
