SiriusXM is free until September 10th

you will need an inactive XM or Sirius radio or computer to listen in https://www.siriusxm.com/

Remember though, never pay full price. They are VERY flexible on what they can charge you, and have offered as little as 5 dollars a month for 12 months for returning customers https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2017/12/sirius-xm-is-desperate-for-your.html

Sirius XM is desperate for your business... the normal 16 a month? Not even being talked about. Right now they need to make the end of the month, quarter, and year quota stats. $5.00 a month for 6 or 12 months

I was just setting up a radio and heard the looped commercials they run on the deactivated Sirius XM channel 184 sample music channel.

It happens that if you call up or go to their website, and mention 4.99 a month, you can sign up a deactivated radio, aka a returning customer, for 6 or 12 months at 5 bucks a month.

That's pretty good. Normal price is $209 for the unknowing victim/customer who doesn't wait for a deal/sale/desperate move on the part of Sirius XM to come along.

It's their typical way to get people to come back... . http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search/label/Sirius%20XM and has been for a while

BUT BEWARE THE AUTOMATIC RENEWAL!  That little trick will cost you $218 dollars.
See that $18.21 a month renewal cost?  That's 218.52 a year if you don't cancel. You can ONLY cancel if you call 1-866-635-2349

So, pay with a check through the mail if you can. If not, mark your calendar, put a note in your next years christmas decorations, etc, what ever you'll see 11 months from now, so you can call them up and cancel before they pull that little nasty money grab trick

Just my 2 cents. Why not let people know what's going on and how to save 60% on anything you happen to know about? It's just being a good neighbor

Also, don't jump on the 1st deal you see... they are not out to make you happy, they are out to get your money

See this comparison of the same website, different pages:

Notice above the 12 months are for 60 dollars.

But below? 100 dollars.
What do you make of that?

More info on Sirius XM and their willingness to come down on the rates

Here's the latest.

They wanted $209 for a 12 month renewal.

Well, I don't have that money (maybe you already read the post about me not getting back my rental deposit, if not, it's a couple posts down)

So, I called them up and it takes 8 minutes to get the 1st guy to understand I will not be renewing my subscription.

8 minutes... he probably doesn't speak English very well. I don't know why, I do believe it's an American company, catering to USA drivers.

Anyway, he can't do anything with an account anyway, we all probably know that. The 1st person is just to get your call to the right person who handles accounts

So then I talk to a woman that has NOTHING in the notes from the 8 minutes I just spent talking to James, and I waste 2 minutes telling her I am not renewing.

THEN she has to try and get me to stay on the billing. I don't know why they are desperate to keep an upset customer, or a broke one. She asked why I would not renew, and I told her, because your company can't take a note, and put it in the account with my name on it, and I have to waste my time explaining everything over and over again every time there is a problem.

So, she offers to renew my Sirius XM for a year, or whatever, for 1/2 price.

Then she tried to tell me what a long time I've blah blah and that Sirius will offer blah blah blah

and I say no. I said, you aren't listening to me. I am not renewing.

Then the magic last ditch, low dollar, bottom line offer gets mentioned. $25 dollars for 5 months.

Friends, that's 3.5 times less a month than they want to bill me for at the normal rate. $209 for 12 months, is 17.4 a month.... but when you're telling them you are going away, and turn off the subscription, they suddenly will give you the same amount of Sirius XM radio for about 1/3rd the price (for 5 months)

I've mentioned this before. http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search/label/Sirius%20XM

Sirius XM prices are going up, maybe it's time to just share the music library and grow it

The automatic renewal (if you're foolish and give them your credit card number) was 175 dollars for the 12 months of Jan 2014 to Jan 2015

As of Feb 2017 a renewal for 12 months is $218 a year.

That's nearly 4 dollars more a month, and they included a note that as of April of 2017, the price will increase another dollar  a month.

By my math, the price has already been increasing more than a dollar a year.

As I've done in the past, I advice all of you to check on the renewal situation of your XM/Sirius radio contract or subscription, tell them you are cancelling.

A couple months down the line, you'll get a sweet heart offer for 1/4 or less of the normal charge. That's been my experience. Just thought you'd like to know.

Also, consider this.... maybe you too are paying for unlimited data on your cell phone. I am. About a 100 a year, T-Mobile.

So, really, would you pay more than 5 bucks a month for Sirius XM when you can take your phone, access You Tube, and listen to whatever you might want? Or Pandora? Or even all your old Cds if you've ripped them to your computer and loaded them onto your cell phone, thumb drive, or portable hard drive

This reminds me, I've put all my old cds music onto a hard drive, I call it my music library. So have other people. Some times when people add their libraries together they get a hell of a lot of incredible sharing (hey, I'm sharing stuff on this blog every day, with you) of music, and without buying more cds.

If you want to share your music library, like I do, let me know. We can send the hard drive around, and have people add theirs to it, and when it gets to the next person on the list, they can get all that's on it, add theirs to it, and send it on along. So far I've got about 3/4s of a terabyte of music. But I still don't have the Who, the Guess Who, and some others that I'd love to listen to more, like some 80s big hair bands and rock n roll.

Just fyi.

Fed up with the cost of Sirius XM? I was. Problem solved

Just a couple weeks before your subscription is about to expire, call them up. Ask them how much for the next year, then tell them that's far more than the service is worth to you, and to cancel your renewal. They'll ask why, and you tell them you will go without instead of paying so much, as you've already had friends pay 25 for 6 months instead of the regular 175 a year, and anything they'll sell for 25 for 6 months will do. They counter with the usual song and dance about how your account isn't due for any specials. So tell them fine, just go ahead and cancel as you aren't convinced that 175 a year is worth it. Then they'll counter that though they can't offer you 6 months at 25, they'll go 5 months at 20 bucks.

and there you go. 20 bucks instead of (did the math on a calculator) $72.92

they would prefer to charge you 15 a month http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2013/05/advice-for-all-xmsirius-subscribers.html

Advice for all XM/Sirius subscribers

They sent me a "renewal" letter in the mail. Quite a good deal they are promoting

25 dollars, you get 6 months, for the radio that you've stopped subscribing on, and for any other radios you have that get XM/Sirius.

I got the letter because I got rid of a car and cancelled XM/Sirius, and they had been charging me 15 dollars a month.

15 a month.

Now to get my business back they'll give me 6 months at 25 dollars total.

I called to get this applied to my daily driver. The letter says it is for every additional radio you have in addition to the one you are renewing for.

This means that even if I had the car I don't own any more turned back on, and my car renewed for 6 months... both cars would cost me 50 dollars for 6 months. Still 40 dollars cheaper than what they charge by the month for one car.

So I called, and asked what I was currently paying for the car I have... they said my current subscription offer is for about 100 dollars, 12 months, doesn't expire til January of 2014.

I asked if that was all, and they said no.

HERE IS THE IMPORTANT PART

They said my AUTOMATIC renewal would then occur, and I'd be charged 175 dollars for the 12 months after that.

So, I advice all of you to check on the renewal situation of your XM/Sirius radio contract or subscription, tell them you are cancelling. A couple months down the line, you'll get a sweet heart offer for 1/4 or less of the normal charge.

Just thought you'd like to know.

Update, a renewal as of Feb 2017 costs $218 a year.
