sometimes, I look at the numbers comparing stock and race versions of a car, and wonder why the stock one had more parts, but accomplished less. Example, 1969 Z 28 with the 302
Horsepower and torque of a Z/28 302 engine make for a customer, with cross ram dual quads?
377 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 355 ft.lbs torque at 4500 rpm
What about one of the Z/28s that raced in the 1969 Trans Am series?
486HP with a single 4 BBL

a speed parts collector sent in a couple photos to Rodders Journal... wow, what a stash!
a set of Ardun heads... man.. that's hard to guess how long he waited to find a set for sale
intakes on either side of quick change center sections
instrument panels, flatheads, banjo steering wheels...
and more intakes and carbs... wow. This is not just a great collection, but a great presentation.
Thanks to Carl Tregler in Erie Pennsylvania! 440 6 pack Edelbrock intakes
The part about pointing out that they are aluminum is useless... I'm certain that all Edelbrock intakes are aluminum. Anyway, the 6 pack intake was described in an article in Muscle Car Review magazine, Sept 2008, page 70.
Casting number 3412046, and weighing less than 1/2 of the iron replacements that Chrysler made for the 1970 model year. I had one, and it was effing heavy, easily more than 40 pounds.
Chrysler switched from contracting the intakes from Edelbrock to making them to save about 1/3rd th 1/2 off the cost per unit, that is alot of money.
About 3500 were made by Edelbrock, and I'm very happy to have one on my engine. I wanted one for about 7 years before I got mine.
On the topic of Edelbrock intakes, NHRA accepted them as factory stock. That is pretty cool imho. The LD4B and CH4B intakes, and the 2 piece hemi intake were given Chrysler part numbers too.

The more carbs, the better it looks
If there were bonus points for rare applications never seen before, this guy would beat all the competition. I think this long ram carb setup is from a Max Wedge 413, the only thing I've seen of this design. But putting it on a rod, and letting it all hang out? Now that's cool, unlike the factory's keeping stuff out of sight under a hood where I never get to see the cool stuff.
