I doubt people at the cruise realized they were getting a great opportunity to check out a concours competitor, the 1953 Glasspar G2 I last saw at the 2012 Dana Pt Concours de Elegance

This must sound incredible past the speed limit

Jim Jacobs' hot rod, I saw it in the GNRS 2010 exhibit in the NHRA museum

“Jake and I were walking through Pasadena and saw a guy with a guitar case with labels plastered all over it,” recalled Tony Thacker. “Jake said he always wanted to do that with the tub. [Gray Baskerville called it “Jakeoupage”] I said, ‘Let’s go do it.’ We went home and started cutting up old Hot Rod magazines and put them on the tub.

Thanks Sandy!

hemi 72 Road Runner... built the smart way, cheap body not in high demand, and monster engine

double the horsepower my R/T has with a 426 wedge... damn. If that isn't enough to prove by comparison the masterful engineering and advantage of hemi heads vs wedge heads, I don't know what else would

Nice GTO, odd hood though, must be to clear an aftermarket intake and carb

Of all the things that irritate me, this really pushes my button. An endless string of appreciative tumblrs running my photo, and not crediting me as photographer, nor getting the name Parnelli Jones spelled right. Idiots!

Above found on http://outsidethecubicle.tumblr.com/post/91605614423/musclecardreaming-parnelli-jones-ford-with-a#notes

Here's my original photo below, just to prove I took the photo. At the Escondido cruise night that is a Friday night event all summer long, just about 30 minutes north of San Diego.

From the post I did in 2008: http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2008/04/this-awesome-mustang-now-has-dedicated.html

And since the first guy to copy my photo didn't bother adding a note to his Tumblr post, none of the rest of the people that reposted it could learn where the car and hauler were from, who make them, and eventually, that Wes sold them. Neither of these are more than 10 years old, Wes had a passion for the project were he envisioned having a Boss 302 just like Parnelli drove, on a race car hauler that would be a perfect match.

I took galleries of this car and hauler several times, and you can see all the detail photos, if you like, by clicking on this link: http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search/label/Les%20Werling%27s%20recreation%20of%20the%20Parnelli%20Jones%20SCCA%20Mustang

the truck started out looking like this:

and Muscle Car Review even featured the combo hauler and race car in the July 2008 issue

and update Feb 2019, I just found a photo taken at the same time of it from across the street

Escondido Nitro Night was a blast

Just a couple photos to show you how big the crowd was. This side street is a full block, and between the buildings in the below photos is an alleyway, that is to tell you how large the area is

These are just a a couple of the photos, and none of the videos... they take to long to load, and it's late already.

Escondido's restored firetruck

the only Coast Guard tribute Harley you'll ever see, by a 24 year retired mechanic

In town for the Good Guys Del Mar Nats, this Kaiser Manhatten is a head turner... there aren't any in San Diego.

All original looking besides the rims, and the ghost flames are too faint to see from this distance, but I overheard people saying that they thought the headlights were from a Buick, and they aren't. The owner has had people speculate that it's a 4 door that has been made into a 2 door, it isn't. The cab and roofline look over large for the body, but it's the difference that the Kaiser company thought would set it apart from the dozens of other car copmanies in the 1950's.

I took a full gallery of photos of it at the Good Guys Del Mar Nats: http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2011/04/kaiser-manhatten-rest-of-gallery.html

The tiny Buick, it has to be the smallest they made before the econo box trend of the late 1970's

First cruise of the season in Escondido

Above is one of the side streets, not the main drag. Below is the duece donation grill

Tweety bird mudflaps.. yikes.

great shifter, it's in a 50's Dodge Sierra

Great centerpiece design and dash piece over the glove box. The dual ashtrays are not unique, a few cars had them, but the clock between and the radio above turned out really well
Instantly recognizeable tail light, I like that about older cars from the 60's
