The 1926 Renault 40 CV

In 1924 the Montlhery race track near Paris was opened for car manufacturers to establish world speed records.

Renault prepped a 1926 40 CV prototype with a  a specially prepared chassis and a narrow closed body with single seat in the middle of the car width.

It obtained a 24 hours world record at an average speed of 107 mph. Top speed was measured at 119 mph

Unrestored 5100 mile 1961 Renault Resort by Ghia is for sale (49k) at Symbolic Motors. It spent over 50 years at an Italian estate

Resort Specials were assembled by Carrozzeria Ghia of Turin, Italy. It appears that this is one of the few that remained in Italy from new, apparently having been purchased by a wealthy family with a large estate in Tuscany. It remained there for more than 50 years

Very similar to a Fiat Jolly, a golf cart type vehicle meant for playboys and vacation resorts in the Caribbean. Some were found to be perfect for taking aboard yachts, so the yachters would have easy stylish transportation when they pulled into ports

the camping car, by Renault, 1971 it has to be the inspiration for Inspector Gadgets car

This is by far the most gadgety but cute car I've seen... the reverse light is an extendable magnetic attached light for helping you while changing a tire, or showering.. which is aided by the full 360 shower curtain. I was happily surprised by the suspenders as should seat belts, and the extension car body to add a foot to the cargo area for laying down.

Watching this will cause you to wonder why the magnetic light was never added as standard equipment on cars, and wonder why you haven't seen this clip before

the new pope bought a 1984 Renault... and the jokes about a pope and an old low quality car are numerous!

Leave it to the slapstick brothers, Tom and Ray, at Car Talk to have a field day with the news of Pope Francis’ recent present: a lovingly used 30 hp 1984 Renault 4.

As soon as the now-retired radio hosts heard the news, they went on Facebook and Twitter and let the witticisms and quips rip.

The Pope buys a 1984 Renault… Now there’s a man who believes in the power of prayer.

The pope can easily handle a flooded engine. Even if it’s of Biblical proportions.

He needs one of two bumper stickers. #1, God is my co-pilot. OR #2, My other car is the Pope Mobile.

It’s either burning oil, or you’ve just been replaced. “A little black smoke is fine, just watch out for the white smoke”.

If you see a lot of white smoke, it might mean it’s time to elect a new car. The black smoke means that a new car must still be chosen.

“Well, sir, it keeps overheating because the water in the radiator keeps turning to wine…”
