unrestored survivor 1913 Case Model N. 5 are known to still exist according to the museum. It had an acetylene injection starting system. I've never heard of that

CASE produced a variety of motorcars along with their threshers and tractors from 1911 through 1927. Throughout those 17 years, they built a little over 27,000 cars in Racine, WI, and only about 110 have survived.

very interesting, this guy found a Hertz rental car tagged key under the carpet, evidence of the cars history that it had been a rental when new

Over the past few years, Ford has issued more recalls than any other automotive manufacturer

Ford has issued a total of 82 recalls in 2025 thus far, just a few days before the conclusion of the first half of the year.

Unfortunately for The Blue Oval, that number is light years ahead of second-place Forest River, a recreational vehicle maker that has issued 19 recalls, as well as the rest of the pack. Volkswagen Group and Chrysler are tied for third place with 15 recalls each, followed by Mercedes-Benz (13), Honda (12), General Motors (12)

thank you Larry! Cool photo!

there is a section of railroad track, that Bat Masterson, famous wild west gunfighter, graded.

In his late teens, Masterson and his brothers Ed and Jim left their family's farm to hunt buffalo on the Great Plains. In July 1872, Ed and Bat Masterson were hired by a subcontractor named Raymond Ritter to grade a five-mile section of track for the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad.

Ritter skipped out without paying the Masterson brothers all of the wages to which they were entitled.

It took Masterson nearly a year, but he finally collected his overdue wages from Ritter, at gunpoint.

On April 15, 1873, Masterson learned that Ritter was due to arrive in Dodge City, Kansas, aboard a Santa Fe train and that Ritter was carrying a large roll of cash. When Ritter's train pulled in, Masterson entered the car alone and confronted him and marched him out onto the rear platform of the train, where he forced him to hand over the $300 owed to him, his brother Ed, and a friend named Theodore Raymond. A loud cheer then went up from a large crowd which had witnessed the event

the electric Dodge Charger Daytona is facing a somewhat embarrassing and humorous recall. It's not loud enough

2024-2025 Dodge Charger Daytonas have an issue, the vehicles’ amplifier may be missing software, which can prevent it from emitting exterior sounds including pedestrian warnings.

The models don’t comply with the  “Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid Electric Vehicles” (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 141)

EVs are so quiet, the government deemed it necessary to add some sort of pedestrian warning sound to avoid accidents.

It’s an embarrassing problem after Dodge spent a lot of time and marketing efforts promoting the vehicle’s Fratzonic “exhaust” external noise maker.

That particular system was long touted as the answer to making EV muscle cars as exciting as their ICE counterparts by giving them the same sort of sounds and feel as traditional gas models.

fascinating... how a wheel axle was made, without power tools, from an oak tree

I like watching expert craftsmen at the task of creating something cool from raw materials.

1919 Cornfield Classic 200 Mile race in Marion, Indiana

Maldwyn Jones, the scrappy old-timer who knew his way around a wrench and a dirt oval equally as well, is among the greatest motorcycle racers America ever produced.

Jones quickly developed a reputation for salvaging and refining his own breed of racing machines from Merkel’s Pottstown factory junk bin, and by 1913 was considered one of the best dirt track racers in the midwest.

Soon after the outbreak of WWI, Jones took up work as an experimental aviation engineer at McCook Field in Dayton, before rejoining the infamous Harley-Davidson Wrecking Crew in 1919 for the big 200 Mile Cornfield Classic

According to Hotcars.com, the Tacoma is the only truck left with a manual transmission

the Ford F-150 – phased out the stick after 2008
the Chevy Silverado got rid of it even before that, in 2007.

The last full-size pickup to offer a manual transmission in the U.S. was the Ram 2500 HD, which discontinued its manual option after the 2018 model year.

a very remarkable bridge, one that no longer exists, except in a painting by Van Gogh. The original drawbridge was replaced by a reinforced-concrete bridge in 1930. Van Gogh claimed the painting as "something funny... I will not create every day."

The Langlois Bridge at Arles is the subject of four oil paintings, one watercolor and four drawings by Vincent van Gogh.

Arthur C. Clarke made reference to van Gogh's Bridge at Arles in his novel 2001: A Space Odyssey. In it, the character David Bowman notices the painting when observing the living room of "an elegant, anonymous hotel suite" after travelling through the Stargate.

The Langlois Bridge at Arles with Women Washing is one of numerous van Gogh paintings visited by the unnamed dreamer in Akira Kurosawa’s film ‘’Dreams’’

Carroll Shelby and LeRoy Yarborough were both appearing at a dealership Ford in Colorado Springs in 1968. But - in the middle of this ad, it mentions "English Fords" - were they selling Anglias in the USA in Colorado in 1968?

Sometime in the 1970s, Don was able to arrange the purchase of this 32 with condition that the large tree not be harmed when removing the car, in Littleton, Colorado.

What they did was cut the body and frame into two sections just before the “B” pillar then pulled front and back apart.

in Silsbee, Texas, a man stole a 2025 Ford Mustang directly from a dealership while performing a test drive. He left his drivers license though... so they didn't have any trouble finding the thief

According to Automotive News, the man went to Silsbee Ford and asked to test drive a 2025 Ford Mustang, after which a salesperson joined him for that ride. However, during the test drive, the man pulled a gun on the salesperson and proceeded to make off with the pony car. Trouble is, the thief forgot one little detail – he left his driver’s license at the dealership while he was on that test drive, so it was pretty easy for law enforcement to identify him.

It wasn’t long before the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office spotted the stolen Mustang and successfully executed a traffic stop, at which point the thief was arrested without incident. Luckily, no one was hurt, and now, the man is facing a litany of charges including aggravated robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, with bond set at $230,000.

in theory, this should work, and Garage 54 seems to exist to challenge the nearly impossible, and see it it can be made to work... a Lada with fourteen wheels

If you think "Garage 54" sounds familiar, it's because I posted about their attempt to power a car with AA batteries, and when they made a burn out car, like the Australians do https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2020/11/what-happens-when-australian-builds.html

The RAF Museum has launched a fundraising campaign to support the relocation of more than 50,000 historic artifacts to a new Collections Hub in the Midlands. "The Crate Escape"

Through The Crate Escape, supporters can choose to fund a packing box and, in doing so, help preserve and share stories of courage, innovation, and sacrifice.

The new Collections Hub is part of a broader transformation of the RAF Museum Midlands, scheduled for completion in the summer of 2027.

So, why have several 10s of thousands of historical items been stored, instead of on display, by a museum - which only exists to show and share the items, (that's why they charge admission) but now they want to charge a lot more, to let people know what's in storage.

Huh. Have I got that right, or missed something obvious? In the video that explains it all... they say they made a new museum location, with a new exhibition, a lot of new green space, and a learning center.... but they don't mention that these items in storage, that they want to fundraise to move, will be given a place to be displayed.

See? new green space, new exhibition, and new learning center... nothing about new exhibit halls expansion the size of several warehouses, as that is what it would take to display all the stuff they want you to pay to move, that's stored in the warehouse. That's pretty cheeky

if New York govt employees are involved, I bet they are corrupt, and somehow making a lot of untaxed income from their job.... 3 New York DMV employees, and a driving school were busted in driver's license scheme, Staten Island DA says

Detectives say the T&E Driving School on Roosevelt Avenue in Queens charged people $1,600 to $2,000 each to falsify driving exams. Investigators say the school's owner worked with three DMV examiners and a substitute driver who posed as other people to take tests.

General Motors agreed to a $150 million class action lawsuit settlement over the excessive oil consumption problem in 2011-2014 Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, Sierra, Yukon vehicles equipped with LC9 engines who live in California, Idaho or North Carolina.

Chevrolet and GMC vehicles are equipped with defective LC9 engines that consume excessive amounts of oil. Plaintiffs in the case say that GM knew about the defect but failed to disclose it to consumers.

Class members will receive a proportional share of the net settlement fund based on the number of vehicles they own or lease. According to the settlement website, each class member is estimated to receive at least $2,149.

Lawyers got some outlandish amount of money instead of sticking GM with a RECALL where all affected parties get a new engine.

Seems to me that is a tenth of the cost of the engine rebuild or replacement.... because my Veloster had that "Excessive oil consumption" problem and the warranty replacement cost about 15thou... for a 2 liter Hyundai engine.

A LC9 engine replacement cost?

New Crate Engine: These are typically the most expensive option, with prices potentially exceeding $7,000 for a new GM Goodwrench LC9 long block.

Remanufactured Engine: Remanufactured engines offer a balance of cost and quality, with prices ranging from around $3,000 to $5,000.

I hope they hired better writers, and a good director. That's all he needs. Did you see "Knock at the Cabin"?

I'm pretty sure this gives cops all they need to know when looking for someone to keep an eye on in traffic

Interesting that the 350Z has been removed, and a badge that is written in Japanese has taken it's placee,

I'm guessing the license plate was chosen for a specific meaning too.. .

rust free old trucks are still out there!
