Cool Ford... I think it's a Galaxie XL... a 1966?

I've never seen this tach before, it's perfect!

I love the Moon Eyes on the fuel cell

If you're a San Diego native, you may listen to the DSC and have heard Dave pick on Ruth 66 for being distracted constantly by something shiny...

in the Syndicate parking lot

The grill, the color, and the stance all had this catch my eye... the grill especially. I won't give two burps for most T-birds... but this one earned compliments and respect for the look. Bravo!

the Coronado Sandman... is making street art and not letting life get him down.

video

"If a man is called to be a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the host of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job well." -
- Martin Luther King Jr.

James has a cool Nash Statesman Super, and he's switched to an 87 Corvette powertrain, and bagged it. It is bitchin!

My favorite parts of rarre cars... the speedometer and the radio, and these are two of the best looking!

and the Kaiser in the magazine below? That is what James is going to make next!

Two guys couldn't get what they wanted. One built this car with parts off a wreck caused by a 16yr old who had a temper and destroyed his dad's GT/CS

An example of "what if" Ford had sold convertible 1968 GT/CS to the public, was put together by starting with a 1968 convertable stang, and using the unique parts from a real GT/CS.
Those rare parts were holding together what remained of a California Special that a kid thought his dad should have presented him with on his 16th birthday. When he didn't get his way, and blew his top, he put sugar in the gas tank, and broke the windshield.

Oldsmobile Holiday 98 at Coronado

Thanks S R Management for correcting me... of course it's an Olds... I was tired when I posted this!

Cars needed for a invite only champagne brunch/car show... there are some congressmen, senators, and assemblymen that are going to be hosting a party

these photos are from the last event
Do you have, or know of a car in this list that would like to be at this event on Sunday April 26?
1957-64 tbird
1930-40 Coupe or roadster
any Nomad
1958 Chevy Impala

If you are in San Diego, can drive one of these to the event, give Doug a call!

"These legislators and supporters helped defeat the legislation against our classics last year.
The guests are very appreciative, treat the car owners very well and we participate in all of the festivities - great food, entertainment, pro photographers and the Bali Hai. They ask nothing in return ( not the normal $500. per couple) just our presence.
Although you won't know it because they're simply there to enjoy the brunch, the other guests and our cars, there are over 40 Congressman, Senators, Assemblymen, Mayors, Fire Chief and major business owners attending.
It is fun and an opportunity that does not come along often - and they support our classics.

Hope you can participate, send a vehicle or refer one
call asap if anyone has an interest.

Colors at Coronado's annual car show

For more Coronado car show photos, see Tere's reflections series.. she's looking at the cars in a cool new way: http://justacargal.blogspot.com/2009/04/coronado-motor-cars-on-main-street_20.html

Car guy humor... right on

A pragmatic philosophy I believe in

The San Diego Car Council calendar of car shows... it's not a complete calendar of San Diego car shows... it's just the sanctioned shows

May
June
July
August

The San Diego Mopar Club monthly meeting... every 2nd Wednesday of the month, Casa Machado, Montgomery Field on Aero Dr. at 7pm

Club Pres keeping the meeting on track and informing us of whats going on with local car shows, club events, a convoy of club members to Spring Fling.. stuff like that http://www.moparclubsandiego.net/
And every club meeting is a good chance to catch some cool cars in the parking lot in good dusk lighting when the sun is down, but the light is still bright.

Nik finds great stuff! Here's a post about sidecars he found and tipped me to

this beautiful 1932 Alvis was brought out for British rolling car show

This girl's dad has ruined her for any boyfriend she'll ever have. She rides shotgun in the sportscar with full race seatbelts through her child seat!

Wow, a Lagonda was brought to the rolling British car show

video

Getting a good look under the bonnet ( I think that is the appropriate Brit slang for the engine area)

Misc stuff that caught my eye

The Harley Davidson badge on the gas cap is because the husband wanted a Harley before the family came a long, and had to wait until after the kids were raised and through college.

Rolling British Car Show 2009, San Diego annual event to bring out the MGs, TRs, Jags, Morgans, and missing this year.. the Deloreans

The morning was beautiful, the top was down, the car was in top form, and the road ahead beckoned... so why the sour puss?

Lighten up! You are living in So Cal, the price of gas is about 1/2 of last years ridiculous cost, you are in sports car, on a club cruise, and have the whole weekend ahead of you.... Smile!

The new car doesn't have a place to go, but had to be first to get there, getting in the way of the classic who had a open road

Congrats AMG Mercedes Benz... you sat in the intersection and got in the way of people with a place to go.

May the gods of speed frown on your "outstanding handling dynamics" and cause your gas tank to be empty at the worst possible time.

Personalized plates... why use them to reiterate the type of car they are on?

This tr4a guy is clever... so extra points for that... and I use it as an example of what I look for in a personalized plate. The rest of these are a waste of time and space, they had a chance for humor greatness, but failed to achieve

the rest of these, just leave me flat when I was hoping for witty, clever, or inovative

Ken blows my mind a second time! Terrific game to waste time at work

51 celebrity Harley Davidson riders... how many can you name? Click on the image for the full size version, or go right to Ken's website http://www.spotmotorcycles.com/celebrity-harley-davidson-riders-how-many-can-you-name/ for the game and answers.

Darn you Ken, I've got work to do! Stop holding my attention on your cool website!

Dangerous Diagram: The Jumps of Evel Knievel ... a cool website the sets a new standard for entertaining information!

The first ever interactive infographic documenting the career of a modern superhero -- a man who captured the imagination of a nation for the better part of two decades.

The infographic illustrates all of Evel's jumps. At a glance you can see when he made each jump, what he jumped over, what bike he used, how far he went and whether or not he sustained any injuries during the jump.

Thanks Ken! You rock!

1930 Model A, happened across while a mechanic was trying to get it running

The body hasn't been repainted
That's the original floor mat, in the rumble seat area.
When the grandson of the owner inherited it, and pulled it out of the barn it had been stored in for many years, he had a mechanic try to get it running.
The battery was in backwards .. early Fords had positive ground, not the modern negative ground.
These 16 inch rims have a story... the 1932- 34 Fords had 16 inch rims, whereas the 1930 and 31 had 19 inch rims.
In the 40's everyone switched from 19 inch rims to 16 inch rims, because all the military vehicles had 16 inch rims and only 16 inch tires were being manufactured. The interesting side effects of WWII shortages and rationing... in the example of rims on hot rods.

What was in a Model A tool kit?

I think that box, in all it's wear and tear, is bitchin. How many could have possibly survived the nearly eighty years since it was printed?

A fan belt, a distributor cap, a crank handle... that doubles as a lug nut wrench, a couple wrenches, a pair of pliers and a crescent wrench that have been replaced or weren't original to the tool kit, a three way socket wrench... very innovative and cool.. a hammer and a jack with handle. Plus two cool little things, a lock for the spare tire, and a screw on wheel puller to break the rim loose from the axle.

1937 Studebaker "Coupe Express"

First time I've ever seen a tag attached to the hood to advertise the outlets of a car maker

Click on the image for full size to read the tag under the "International" sign... it says sold by Drew Carriage Co Covina, San Bernadino, Riverside, Ontario

I bet this car's owner hears "Nice Vette!" a dozen times an hour

I'm happy to report to all of you, there's a HOT ROD EDSEL in town! Yeah, that makes me really happy! No kidding!

Cool trailer!

This interior caught my eye

I'm not a fan of the greyish green color, but the design is cool

Cool.

He shouldn't look this bored in such a cool hot rod

two speed axle? New to me, and here's how it worked.. plus a cool speedometer, I love the obvious age

In the beginning, there was experimentation on how to best indicate the gear your automatic transmission was in... and one cool unique radio

Check out the dedication to a Huey on the rear fender

Misc shots of stuff that caught my eye

Cool theme paint on this Viper

That's pretty cool!

Escondido cruising is back in full, here's the Mopars

Hot Rods and Jalopies ... Dave's cool blog about the way it was... check out the challenge

Beautiful material in this Bel Air

This cool '59 Impala had my attention... I love the designed curves on the body, and the seat material

Escondido's Friday night cruise is back in full effect... I had a great time looking at a lot of hot rods I haven't seen before, and some I have

I am impressed by the shifter in this Jag.. very cool

Down on the corner, out in the streets
