opening the door gives perspective and reveals that it's a lot bigger than it looks from the inside, or the outside

I guess that it's probably built to survive bombs, rockets, grenades, etc. I wonder if the doors are power assisted open or closed?

it's 18 feet long, and 6 foot high

Read about it in a brief slideshow, it's informative:  http://www.businessinsider.com/the-beast-presidents-limo-2015-2

  1. And we couldn't give this level of safety to our men and women serving in the middle east? WTF!

    1. hell no. Obama never went into the military, and I don't think he ever went over to the war zone to pump up the soldiers and sailors. The guys like Roosevelt and Eisenhower, they got it. They were soldiers 1st, statesmen 2nd, and respected the military. But it's been a long time since we've had a president that did any real time in the military... Bush 41. Pilot, WW2, pacific arena.
But until a pres gets his pretty suit and shiny shoes dirty in the sand box, and his ass half blown off, he ain't concerned with the level of prep that his army gets. He figures the generals are going to handle that.... and we haven't had a good general since Schwarzkopf.

    1. ug. White walls are not very good looking... but you reminded me, did you see the president of Vietnam had whitewalls on his Jeep? They think it's a mark of the high rank respect or something.. I posted it a couple years ago https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2015/09/the-commander-in-chief-of-vietnamese.html

I like the Hongqi limousines from China, the front headlights and grill make the car look like its surprised. All they need is a set of those fake eyelashes they put on VW beetles.

The Presidential limo is essentially a tank with Cadillac body cladding. I've seen skinnier doors on bank vaults. Its a shame they get destroyed once they're taken out of service, it would be cool to look at one in a museum to see what they're like up close.

  4. I saw Clintons motorcade once, we knew it was going to pass by, the Secret Service had been into our biz the day before, since he was visiting a large donor/bribe who lived adjacent to our place.

there was a school across the street, and they turned all the kids out so they could watch the motorcade drive by,

couple of state troopers at front, and some local cops, and a black van with a giant machine gun sticking out the back

you could tell it was unplanned, Clinton ordered his limo to stop, and he hopped out to mingle with the kids, and all the vehicles in front of the limo kept going for a 1/8 mile, realized the prez was no longer behind them , and they all came screaming backwards with guns pointed every direction.

and the secret service folks were going nuts trying to screen the kids, but Clinton was way ahead of them just walking thru the crowd.
    was pretty wild to watch.
and all the cops standing 50 feet apart on the shoulder of the road, did a great job, they never turned around to see what the commotion was about, they just kept watching the spectators.

  5. Some more info about The Beast, including a video of one getting high-centered in Ireland a few years ago. Someone didn't do their homework when they planned the route. The one in the video looks a little bit different from your pictures, more car-based than the newest Beast, and it has whitewalls for Bruce! Another article said they sometimes use the older models in foreign countries because the newest ones are too big for the streets.

    1. that makes sense, just leave it in Europe for the G 9 summits, etc etc. No point in shipping it back and forth
