rumor? or fact? Did guys rent GT350s and swap the engines out with their own Mustangs?

  1. Don't know about engines, but l know of a limited slip diff being swapped for a standard one. It makes you wonder what you could get away with today, assuming 1) you can actually rent a car just like yours. 2) the cost of the rental is significantly less than buying the part in question. 3) would the rental agency ever find out if it wasn't a part they look at regularly? 4) build documentation is such that it could be eventually figured out if a different part was installed, but if it isn't caught immediately how do you prove who did it? I'm sure an engine and or transmission in a new car would be out of the question, because the cars computer system would tell the tale.

    1. Today? I doubt you could do much today, cars are too damn complicated, and rental car fleets are too boring, or too expensive to have anything a person would want to trade up to.
