San Diego humor

personal note, I've lived in San Diego since 1995, so, 31 years, after transferring when the my sea duty rotation was up and it was time for shore duty, and I got lucky and got MP at Miramar, the old Top Gun base... I was then given my 2nd sub here, instead of some other sub base, and after my contract with the Navy was up, I had no ideas on where to move, or why, and since San Diego's temps are so much nicer than the other places I've lived (Michigan, Connecticut, Florida, Washington, Texas, and Hawaii) and it's actually easy to get a new job to get better pay when you quit (often) or get fired (also often)

GM has agreed to pay $220 million to settle a lawsuit that it sold user's private data to third parties, who in turn sold that information to insurance companies as a tool for setting premiums.

some of those users wound up seeing their insurance premiums increase as a result of using the Smart Driver feature, and the lawsuit alleges that 370,000 users didn't even sign up for Smart Driver - and yet, they were indeed enrolled.

As part of the settlement, GM must now get customer consent before collecting driver data, limit the amount of personal data it collects, install oversight, and undergo assessments of its data privacy program.
