What are the kill tally markers on this B 58 bomber? Seems most people agree, these just show how many times this plane dropped "pods" training dummy bombs

  1. Along with this theme, the P-51 that shot down a DC-3, and carries the stars and stripes along with the swastikas and rising suns on its kill tally.

  2. I believe that the plane is a B-58 Hustler. Medium Nuclear Bomber, served in 50's-60's. I don't believe it was ever used in anger as it was a "strategic" weapon. This one apparently dropped some bombs or something. I know that the larger silhouettes are of the nuclear bomb/fuel tank that the B-58 used exclusively. The Hustler was amazingly fast. It was the first bomber to achieve sustained MACH 2 flight. It used 4 of the same jet engines from the F-4 Phantom, with afterburners. I read somewhere that they took 2 of the 4 afterburners off. Keep up the good work!
