a simple wonderful old gas station

  1. That building is still there. I think it was a flower and gift shop the last time it was open.

    1. from what I recall, a LOT of old gas stations became flower shops for a short time. I don't think that lasts long though, as the property taxes, or rent, alone are enough to make that a razor thin profit margin. Shockingly, there were only pennies a gallon of profit on gas for decades... but there were thousands of mom and pop gas stations keeping folks in business for themselves until the Opec crisis. Now it's almost all corporate ownership, and franchises... selling more water and soda than gas.

    2. And how sad that is eh Jesse? I loved the Mom and Pop station when I was a youth, just turned 67, God! Anyway, they were a place where a young fella could learn a lot, and later apply that to life as he grew up.

I see this beautiful old station has an upstairs. Maybe a place for the owner t sleep when he couldn't get home? I wish there was a way I could submit some pictures I took of the old gas stations arounds here.

    3. you can... you can email them, or upload them to a Tumblr, Flikr, facebook, or whatever middleman site, and then send me a link to where they are, or send a thumbdrive, or several other ways. Maybe you've already posted them on some site?

    4. Okay, I'll look through my photos and see what I have. I'm going through a divorce right now, which is not too bad. I'll see what i can do at this end to send what I have.
