  1. In 1924, Lloyd Stearman, Clyde Cessna, and Walter Beech formed the Travel Air Manufacturing Company in Wichita, Kansas. How’s that for a who’s who of aviation pioneers? The pictured beauty is a 1929 Travel-Air model 4000. The Experimental Aircraft Association in Oshkosh has one in their collection, and that part of the museum where it’s kept used to offer rides in the vintage stuff hangered there. They still may, I don’t know for certain. The organization has very humble origins, beginning in the basement of it’s founder, Paul Poberezny. Now...don’t even ask. This place is a must see for anyone with the slightest interest in aviation history.

    1. WHOA! I am posting about this!
You're blowing my mind with this gold, you seriously ought to consider teaching or something.
Wow, thanks for this! I'll have to wait until after work to have the time to work up a post though

  2. I agree, WOW, what history you have provided! I am going to send this to my aviation nut friend who is currently not on line. A printed copy will go to him. Thanks so much.
