omfg... these cars sure can cost us a lot to fix up. Over on Hagerty a guy tallies the cost of making a driver out of a 24,000 mile Lotus Europa.


he runs the numbers on darn near everything, and it's close to 20k. 6k for the engine rebuild.

He only paid 6,500 for the '74 Lotus, and that's good, considering it's a fiberglass sports car, no rust, not running. I'd have told him he paid 2500 too much though, considering everything that it has would need replacing, and those things would be very expensive to make it a driver. By the way, the NADA value is 8650

People just don't believe me when I tell them you can't restore a car for under 25k, it's more like 35k, and that's with you doing most of the labor on EVERYTHING
