Wow, nice pieces of B29 nose art!

  1. Its a cryin' shame to see pictures of B-17's in the boneyard being prepped for scrapping. But I'm glad someone had the foresight to photograph some of these heroes before they were turned into beer cans. The B-29 is being prepped for a mission during the Korean War. Most of the stories about the air war in Korea focuses on either the first ever jet vs. jet dogfighting, or the close air support of troops. What is not often told is the bombing campaign which dropped more tonnage on Korea than was dropped in the whole Pacific theatre in WW2.

    1. wow, I hadn't heard about that either! I'd read about the carpet bombing of japan leading up to the atomic bombs, but not that korea was carpet bombed
