when I saw this in the magazine, I thought it was a radio, a very vary large radio

but I was wrong, it's just the passenger side insert in the dash on the 1960 Olds Super 88. That does look a lot like a graduated frequency bar and the Olds rocket looks like a tuning indicator needle.   So it gave me the idea that a smaller version of this would be a super fine looking radio for this car, instead of the boring one it has. Then blank off this area, or make some nice cove design

  1. Parents had one of these 2 door. Was fun standing in the back seat, leaning over the seat and watching the cool speedometer. Was a clear tube, and as you accelerated the indicator moved to the right....green up to 35, orange up to 70, and red after that. They had a speed warning you could set and it would buzz till you slowed below the setting. The rear window curved over the back seat....if you leaned your head back you could see the stars. Sunny days were brutal. Great car for a 10 year old.
