meanwhile in Russia, a drunk steals a (not a tank for gods sake) tank from a paramilitary school to break into a store with armored windows to steal some wine

  1. Forgive me lad but that's just my professional distortion ;)

That's not a tank but MT-BL multipurpose amphibious armored vehicle. Relatively simple vehicle that was build in thousands and serve in absurd number of roles.

    1. THERE it is! I knew someone would comment on the grammatically incorrect representation of the military window buster that couldn't get into the building over the foundation. Good morning!
Tell me, if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, is it still not a tank unless someone corrects someone else and points out some frivolous detail that only differentiates it to guys who crewed in tanks?
      Y'all just a beer.

  2. That's professional distortion, they bolt that in to my mind mate. ;D

When I see a vehicle, I can immediately say what type it is, how it is protected and armed. It allows me to determine the level of threat it represents in this specific moment. It also give me info what type of unit I faced, if this is lead elements of tank battalion or mechanized infantry company. What type of unit, if this is a support unit for sappers or maybe artillery tractor. All this and much more I was learn to recognize, classify and push in to my commanding officer because from such info our life can depends.

And don't ask about that any tankers, they will say that tank is a tank and this is not a tank. End of discussion. They did look at us poor fuckers in BMP's from high horse. No wonder, we got paper thin armor and puny gun that you could not hit a barn if you stand in front of it.

    1. I get it. I used to be able to do that with radars on russian ships and subs, navigational radars vs fire control radars, etc etc. Now I simply can tell you cars from the late 60s and early 70s pretty well, from a tail light, and most cars from the 50s and 60s by sight of front or back end, etc etc. Some people are so in tune with airplanes, trains, or motorcycles they do this game. It's amazing what the human brain is capable of, but, never to the extent that making money hand over fist day in and day out is the result.
