and on top of everything else, they just closed a bridge across the Mississippi the 37k vehicles use every day

a bridge closure across the Mississippi River between West Memphis, Arkansas, and Memphis, Tennessee due to a fracture in the frame, due to a crack on the bottom side of the bridge truss.

I've been saying for years, ever since the bridge on I 35 collapsed, over the Mississippi in Minneapolis, in 2007, that these bridges need more attention. 

From the Texas power grid collapse to the Colonial Pipeline cyberattack to the I-40 bridge crack, infrastructure in the US appears to be miserably failing.
