I wonder how many streets in America still exist where you can drive next to an operating train... or did OSHA change that, and shut down rail roads in city streets

  1. The light rail runs down the middle of Hoard Street in Baltimore, so there is at least one left!

    1. Yes, light rail, street trolleys, I distinctly am referring to real trains, the regular big stuff. Right here in San Diego we have trolley tracks down the middle of roads we can drive beside. But that's the same as driving beside a moving van, or a semi.

  2. Front Street in Salem, Oregon still has rails running down the middle of the roadway and sees a couple of BNSF freights a day, mostly hauling logs and lumber.

  3. There is a webcam in La Grange, KY showing a street with train tracks in the middle.

  4. Schuyler Street in Utica is operated by the New York, Susquehanna & Western (it's the old Delaware, Lackawanna & Western's Utica Branch). Not only do the trains run down the middle of the road, they occasionally make a delivery into the FX Matt Brewery with a locomotive and a hopper car.
