The longest mail route in Michigan is 131 miles in the U.P. It takes up to 10 hours to do. And the mail carrier who drives it every week day has seen plenty along the way.

Susan Kleiman drives her 2015 Jeep on her 131-mile, 361 mail box, rural mail delivery route. Her route covers parts of Delta and Marquette counties

  2. when I was a kid growing up in a rural Appalachian area, my best friends dad was a carrier, he did about 90 miles a day, almost all of it on dirt roads,
he carried a nascar jack and three spare tires in his truck bed,
he had about two flat tires a week.
and after his heart surgery, he asked us, two fifteen year old gearheads, to add a steering wheel on the right hand side.
we got a steering column from another dodge pickup and used pulleys and a belt and added a gas and brake pedal with cables that rab back to the factory pedals.
and we made a flip up window, so he didnt have to roll it up and down with the hand crank anymore.

he used pickups, no car would last, and jeeps rode too rough, he got new Dodge trucks for the 7/70 warranty, and disconnected the speedometer cable, every other week, so it would take about three and a half years to get to 70K. by then, the truck was toast. and literally falling apart from the rough dirt roads.

    1. lol... the speedo cable is so damn easy to disconnect on an old Dodge. Great idea! There's no simple way to stretch a warranty out anymore!
Wow, he waited that long to switch sides in the truck? That was a long overdue modification!
Flip up window, that was a great idea!
