Tell me that's not just a moronic thing to put on a kids bike.
A sissy bar, also called a "sister bar" and sometimes "passenger backrest" is an addition to the rear of a bicycle or motorcycle that allows the rider or passenger to recline against it while riding.
Thanks Steve! Thanks Gary!

Sissy bar was named because your buddy who would have to ride there was a sissy, and it would help keep him from falling off...
ReplyDeleteSissy also used to be slang for sister. It wasn't always a derogatory name to call a guy.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was called that because kids were worried about falling off the back.
ReplyDeleteI was told they were called that, because if you ever slid off the back of one of those things it snagged the family jewels it would make a sissy out of you.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool thing to put on a kids bike. Moronic to think otherwise.
