26' 1929 Dodge Watercar, with a WW1 Curtis OX5 Aircraft engine that Dodge bought up after the war and converted for Marine use

Barracuda is it's original name, here it is finally completing a 40 year restoration

The original owner had 2 engines for it. A race motor and a pleasure motor. He would switch them out on race days, as the race motor had dry stack exhausts on it. The exhaust cooling manifolds were found in the boat. The boat was also used to pull the first hydrofoil in its early testing.

The previous owner took the engines out and donated them to the Smithsonian museum, sort of. He had someone else deliver them, but that guy didn't carry through, and sold them for profit instead

Several months after the current owner bought this boat, and tried to get the engines from the Smithsonian, there was an ad in Hemmings Motor News for 2 Curtis 0X5 aircraft engines that were Dodge conversions.

After calling the dealer and asking where he got them, he said he purchased them from a guy from Grand Island NY who was on his way to the Smithsonian to donate them
