Funny. In Brazil, in the main capitals, we have doctors attending accidents in motorbikes. Maybe (just maybe) getting to an accident in a much faster vehicle is better than using a slow vehicle just because it makes you look like a tree-hugger...
In the USA, the responders aren't even certified nurses. They are firemen, certified in first aid. They are called Emergency Medical Technicians, but, because of lawyers, bureaucrats, lack of city budget allocated correctly to emergency services instead of politicians, and other factors, the situation is not managed the best way. Probably that there are few people who want to be drs, and fewer that can afford the 12 years of med school, it's just EMTs in the field
Sorry, I said doctors but I mean paramedics. They job is to stabilise the victim until the ambulance can arrive, or to dismiss the ambulance call when it's not serious.
But my point was the fact that they are using bicycles instead of motorbikes. Looks like they are more concerned on look cool than saving the accident victims...
