I see 5 trucks in the distance.... why in hell aren't they using them to pull the cannon?

  1. Did u see a WWI truck ? 10 inches large full rubber tyres. In mud, horses or men were more effective.

  2. The trucks will be on smooth (treadless) solid rubber tyres which have no traction in the mud. What they need is a Holt gun tractor - look it up. The armies had quite a few of them.

  3. Good question. They're moving it along a train track so it won't sink into the mud. Could be that the trucks would get stuck or would slip and spin. I don't know for sure, but I wonder if the average Army truck could tow an artillery piece like this in good conditions. Usually you see pictures of specialized artillery tractors, steam engines, or FWD trucks towing arty.

    1. Trucks probably would, I didn't think about that. I already have posted several tractors etc hauling artillery: https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2017/09/ah-progress-thanks-steve.html and https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2020/03/holt-5-ton-tractor-1917-with-army-and.html
