When's the last time you saw a car that someone forgot to turn off the headlights on?  It used to be a habit to turn off the headlights, but now that everyone has a new car with automatic off headlights... when people take out their old fun car for a grocery run, they forget and leave the headlights off

When we did that back in the day, we killed the battery to the point of being unable to start the car.  And THAT is why new cars have headlights that turn off automatically when the engine turns off.

  1. One of the great things about a Volkswagon was you could generally push start one yourself if the terrain was pretty flat and if you had a little bit of downhill grade it was a done deal (2nd gear on both)

  2. In the 90s I used to have a crappy Fiat Uno. It was so lightweight that I could push start it myself. The car was so lightweight that when jacking the front wheel, the back wheel came up as well, as there's absolutely no weight in the back.

  3. My first car during high school was a 49 bug. Split rear window, missing the turn indicators in the door pillars and no speedo (you shifted by the sound of the engine), and an emergency gas tank with a lever that dropped an additional gallon into the fuel tank. But boy was it fun for a 16 yr old.
