if you're going to abbreviate hamburgers, shouldn't you also abbreviate sandwiches?


Hamburgs? I don't think I've ever seen that before. But if that makes sense, then the other side should say Sammichs

  1. "Hamburg" is a term that used to be used a lot here on the East Coast, at least here in New England, and especially with the older crowd. (People like my aunts and uncles, the youngest of whom are in their 80s now.) I haven't heard it in regular usage much since the 1960s or 1970s. It was used like, "You wanna hamburg?" or "You wanna hamburg sandwich?" Which could be a burger on two pieces of plain, white bread; hence, "sandwich." It was often shortened to just "hamburg." I bet if you could pull up more old photos of diners in New England you'd see it a lot.
