1958 Cushman Highlander. By the way, if you look at the road this scooter is on, and wonder about it, it's a bypassed area of a highway, which was abandoned by the state, who no longer do any maintenance to keep the shrubbery from taking over and crowding the lanes.
The original highway routes didn't always make as much sense as the current one, but at the time they were made, construction equipment either wasn't available to put through the highway on it's current location, or there wasn't the engineering yet available to overcome obstructions like granite outcroppings, swamps, or whatever. I grew up next to a portion of Michigan hwy 28 that have been abandoned for decades... since the 1950s I think.
