front license plates

Why are only some states requiring front plates... what's the point?

Any car from a state that doesn't issue a front plate can legally drive in a state that requires a front plate... so, there it is, quite usefully driving around ignoring the stupid front plate requirement.

And - active duty military do not have to change to the license plates of the state they are stationed in... so, there vehicles will be driven around legally for years in that state.

  1. I am glad I live in state that does not require a plate in the front, not only do I dislike they way it looks it has never made any sense at all.

    1. a lot of vehicles were not made with a front plate mounting location... making the issue a bit more difficult to deal with

  2. It's not the state they're 'stationed' in, it's from the state they're from prior to entering service. Ask me how I know.

  3. Back in 1992 I bought a Mazda MX3 and I told the dealer DID not want a plate advertising the dealer on the front. They did it anyway by drilling holes in the front bumper.

  4. I made them remove the plate and fill I the holes and paint over them.

  5. This problem is absolutely alien to me. :D

We got front and rear license plate from the beginning all over old continent. Sometimes it is just hilarious when someone import specific US made car and he stand in front and wonder how to hell put a license plate there. Not only there is often no place on bumper to do this but shape of license plate is different. Some companies made the "frames" that are mounted below grill or just fully replaced bumpers with place for license plate.

Joking, how would automatic speed cam made a legit photo of car AND! who is driving it when you can't identify a car by it license plate. :D
