  1. The article says the plane was painted to honor an Australian Air Force plane, which would explain the kangaroo, but not the bagpipes. It also says the ice cream cones on the score board represent bombing missions over Italy. Do you know why they would have used ice cream cones for that?

    1. good grief, I think I used to know why... Ahhh! Going back through the posts on "Mission Symbols" I had learned that ice cream cones meant Italy... maybe for the letter "I" ? http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search/label/mission%20symbols

    2. The galoshes, rubbers, over shoes, or rainy day boots, those aren't explained either.... or are they just boots? Well, that's the problem and my complaint with history. So much is forgotten - and was never written down because "well, why write it down, EVERY body knows THAT" syndrome
