Did you hear about the Burbank car show flash mob (Krispy Kreme Tuesday) that has the cops freaking out? It starts at 4, at the Burbank Empire Center. (I ask, who invited the damn cops?)

“The Burbank Police Department will always respect and recognize the rights of individuals to peacefully and lawfully assemble,” according to a police statement issued Sunday. ( as long as you're at Bobs Big Boy)

(so why are they intruding into a constitutionally protected assembly of citizens? Ticket quotas! Time to make the money!)

“We also respect and recognize the need for area residents and businesses to safely utilize city streets and services.”

( I point out that the POLICE DEPT shut down the off ramp of the 5... contradicting the above statement)

(City services? How does a car show, or assembly of people in a car parking lot at a mall affect any city services? Easy, it doesn't. Cops never pull this shit and nose around the mall parking lots during christmas shopping heavy days

(City streets? It's a parking lot. It's only purpose is for cars to park. (Where do police forces hire such stupid spokespeople?))

Mass gatherings like the one being planned can create a public nuisance, disturb the peace and adversely impact the safe and efficient flow of traffic, Burbank police said. (OMFG, it's a parking lot! Not the center of the 405 and 5 merger!) '

(And it's the POLICE being the nuisance, disturbing the peace, and impacting the flow of traffic)

The Krispy Kreme Tuesdays car show in November 2012 prompted Burbank police to shut down the south 5 as well as a few more roads (Victory Boulevard at Burbank Boulevard and Buena Vista Street and Empire Avenue) near the Empire Center, where the event is held, Sgt. Darin Ryburn told the Weekly.  http://www.laweekly.com/news/car-show-flash-mob-feared-tonight-in-burbank-4173688

“To that end, the Burbank Police Department will be fully deployed in the area to enforce all applicable laws, including those involving illegal engine/vehicle modifications,” according to police.

(California Highway Patrol and Burbank Police will be there undercover and in uniform)

Signs have been posted at the Krispy Kreme store announcing that the business will close at 4 p.m.

A flash mob at the center on Aug. 13, 2013, drew as many as 3,500 people and 1,100 cars. While no arrests were made, officers issued more than 100 citations for motor vehicle code and moving violations, police said.

a letter received by the meet organizer from the City of Burbank’s own attorney threatening to, “take legal action against you and seek recoupment of the cost of all public resources expended in response to this illegal action.”

Food businesses in the area are Outback Steakhouse, Panda Express, Sharkey's Mexican Grill, Starbucks, Olive Garden, Wendy's and Hometown Buffet

Is all this police nonsense easily explained? Could it be, that the cops are upset... because all the parking near the donut shop will be full? Huh!

Last year, Krispy Kreme  tried its best to host a legit car meet at Irwindale Speedway and dubbed it “The Octane Festival.” The turnout wasn’t as expected due to the fact that people still showed up to the weekly gathering in Burbank the Tuesday before.

Ironically, Irwindale Speedway (as well as other smaller drag strips) are all closing down in favor of outlet malls. (which is where this car show flash mopb is meeting)  If you boil it down to simple economics, there’s a demand for car events and drag racing that hasn’t gone down (and probably increased) since the 1950’s. http://artofgears.com/2015/06/15/why-the-krispy-kreme-tuesday-car-meet-should-go-on/

Just in case you get a outlandish citation to harass peaceful car guys. Here is the ticket lawyer recommended ; Marc K Herbert  855.262.5042  Promo code : KKT

Leave your parking space cleaner than how you found it. Piss off the police who come looking to ticket you for littering.  The city is ready to sue and the businesses are amped up. It costs them money to clean up the mess, and when it costs them, and they can't profit from it, they freak out. What's going to be the most telling tomorrow is how you leave the area. Clean, or trashed.

If in the morning they find a clean parking lot, I'm sure they'll be way less hostile and standoffish next time. Tonight it looks like this is national news, front and center. Act accordingly, take care of your spaces, your crew's spaces, and turn the bad reputation we're being given back around on the media.

On the other hand, wouldn't it be a great joke to get the cops and lawyers all spun up, and all the cars show up on the other side of town, while all the cops are chomping at the bit while waiting all frustrated by the closed Krispy Kreme?!
