no one has figured out how to yet, and the traffic to my blog isn't enough, not even a fraction of enough. 17 years, and I can't even get a job as a magazine writer with Hemmings, Hagerty, Hot Rod, etc. There just aren't enough people interested in this stuff, you can't even make money by switching to pure subscription instead of free to view publicly available website. You can look for yourself, but since no one ever does, I include this: Earnings can vary from $0.5 to $2.5 per 1000 views, but several factors influence this, including your blog's niche, audience location, and ad technicalities. That's not how many people come to the blog, that's how many click on an advertisement. No one clicks on ads. Ads suck, and companies who I would actually LIKE to have advertise on my site, have far better marketing strategies, and most do not need to advertise what they do, I give them free publicity. So, I happen to be doing something entertaining, but not like Elvis or Taylor Swift, not a money making industry in sharing interesting stories and photos. Lots of people have tried, and that is why there WERE a lot of car sites around 2010, and most have disappeared, like the Go Away Garage blog. The few places making a living from the car enthusiasts, like Goodwood, are full of employees that are never going to leave those jobs until retirement, also, the Gilmore museum, The Petersen Museum... etc. They don't make much income, have very few employees, and they only hire people with university degrees, or who are far more involved with cars than me, true racers and builders who didn't invest enough money and have to go get a real clock punching job to keep earning money in retirement from their sport or business. I'm probably no better than anyone else that can do the same things I can, I just waste all my spare time entertaining myself, and sharing that entertainment with anyone that comes by the blog. Hell, it's not even remarkable enough to get free publicity in magazines and car events. Like, everyone at a concours, is talking about the Pebble Beach winner, or the latest issue of some snob magazine, or at car swap meets, people are looking for copies of Rodders Journal, etc etc. So, I just do my blog, and I'm not expecting that there will ever be a surprise job or award for best website. I'd love to get into a hall of fame, or win a Pulitzer... but there are so many people doing better and more publicized things than I am. Heck, I've even talked to blogger that sell merch, and they find there isn't much in sales of shirts and stickers. You might have an idea how many companies have tried to break into the zeitgeist with a big debut at SEMA, and they fail, and go out of business. I see that every year.
with that many visitors, theres gotta be a way you can make some money with google ads or something.
