Why do you feel Americans would be so unable to understand it? Hoping for a clever answer.

The answer is "R"? How in the name of all that is holy did the answer come up as that? A little explanation is necessary on this one.
It's a shift pattern on some old 5 speed. I didn't make it, I just found it clever and amusing.
