Sunoco's 1969 Camaro "Inspection Cruiser". Huh, even though it's just a 307, it's still a 1969 Camaro, and that would be mighty cool to see show up
Above is the famous frozen fuel of the Penske Donahue Camaro... dry ice was used to super chill a barrel or drum of gas, which when loaded into the Camaro, was helpful in packing more fuel into the gas tank, and lower the fuel air mix temp at the carb, possibly lowering the engine temp - but certainly packing more oxygen atoms per cfm for more power
here's a better look at the drum in a barrel, being supercooled, and frosting the bottom half of the barrel
Ron was a freelance racing photographer dating back to 1963 and did work for Sports Car Graphic, Competition Press, Road and Track, as well as a number of karting magazines and even Rod and Custom.

DeleteHow do you use Ron's photos? That depends on if you're going for permission, which I don't as I'm not in the business of making money, I'm sharing and crediting my sources under the fair use act and http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/legalcode.
If you need more than that, you're probably more familiar with the legal processes than I am, as I have posted 48,000 articles on my blog here, and rarely have ever been in touch with photographers.

Ron was a photographer with Road and Track, I bet you can get them to let you use his photos...

You were the scorer for Penske back in the SCCA golden years?
I ask because you mention Thank you! Judy Stropus (Penske scorer at that time.)
Then, wow, you must have some great memories of the most celebrated era of sports car racing, before the cars got loaded with tech, back when they were simply well engineered machines, and talented drivers stood out from the rest.

I have the same reply to this comment as the last, I'm not in any place to do anything to be helpful other than simply letting you know that I'm not informed, educated, or authorized to give anyone anything. I'm a car guy, not a owner of Lathrop's photos, I'm just sharing them, and where I found them, and doing so because a lot of people simply get a kick out of the fun stuff that was done back then, like super chilled gasoline by way of dry ice, and fueling by use of a tower and gravity feed accelerated fuel loading. Plus, Donohue driving for Penske, in a 1969 Camaro. Those are things car guys admire
On top of that, Lathrop was a photographer, that also went into the military, during Vietnam.
So, I'm unable to help you, because you're asking for stuff beyond my range. I just share photos and info that I've learned and how scoring happened, well, I've never come across that, until YOU mentioned that you were a scorer.
I also had no idea that Carini has a writers column, I don't know if "the Chase" is a magazine, or the title of a column in a magazine, or website. Do you have a link to your woprk so that I can write a post about you, your history with the SCCA, and your career in writing and car events?
Like I said, I'm just a car guy. That's how my blog got it's name. It's only fundamental simplicity in stating the facts. I may have evolved a bit into "just a car guy who blogs a lot" but the blog title isn't going to change.
