"Hawaii ranks as worst state for driving," yeah, no shit, says everyone that ever lived near Honolulu. In 2015 it was 2nd worst in the nation, now, it's simply the worst. On the other hand, Jakarta is the worst in the world.

It deserves this ranking due to low scores in:
 road quality,
 a low number of auto repair shops per capita,

 a large share of rush-hour traffic congestion,
 a high car theft rate
 and the highest average gas prices in the U.S.

Honolulu routinely lands in the annual top two “worst traffic in the USA” lists. Traffic info aggregator INRIX reports they spend an extra 60.8 hours a year in traffic, the worst in the nation.

Interestingly, part of the problem in O'ahu is the private schools. Public school was so lousy that private schools popped up, were maxed out, and more private schools were made, and every student needed a ride to school, morning and night. One car, per student, as around 80% of all cars are not car pooling.

1 out of 4 students in 1-12th grades are in private schools in Hawaii, vs 1 in 10 on the mainland

Also, there are 41,000 students in UH Manoa (just about 2 miles west of Honolulu) all driving to and from campus
