Was the "breezeway" power back window a slick aero aid to the Mercury Nascar racers?

The Mercury Montclair, the Park Lane, the S-55, and the Monterey all had the "Breezeway" power back window that was the innovative item now found on some trucks... Cars went with sloped back windows for better gas mileage
