WW2 photos of Margaret Bourke-White, John Florea, J R Eyerman, and George Silk for Life magazine

Thanks to T Wilson 66 for telling me about this video of the tank battle of Cologne, it's incredible, and that Panzer in the photo is the one in the video

  1. Great pictures Jesse, thanks. Look at all the jerry cans next to the runway with the C-47's taxing for take off. No doubt to fill the tanks on the transports. I believe Gen. Patton said, "Compared to war, all other efforts of human endeavor shrink to insignificance." I guess in a very dark way that is true. There is so much we don't know about this war. So many untold stories.

    1. wow, that's incredible! Thanks! I watched the video and added it to the post.... someone took a lot of effort on that video, and it's amazing to see the real time battle between tanks

  3. Reply to JS Fury; you're right, and though the survivors and analysts have had 75 years to cover it all before old age killed the survivors, it still wasn't enough time to get all the stories and facts. That war was just too large in scope, and time. Though we are fortunate to have movie makers like Speilberg and Hanks that have made movies that are so damn realistic, like Fury, War Horse, Band Of Brothers, and Saving Prvt Ryan. The story about the 8th bombing group is supposedly in the works.
