I've flown in a Cessna 310 with Piper Navajo turbocharged engines in it at night and could see some of the exhaust system in through a louvered panel on the inboard side of the right engine. It was simply amazing and a little scary to see the manifolds turn white hot to the point they looked liquid during takeoff.
