Agnimu Rehpot’s The Curiously Astounding Phenomenal Wander (by Mike Maydak)... that's the title of the most interesting book I've bought in years (since Schott's Original Miscellany or Bibliophile: An Illustrated Miscellany)

certainly a book of art, that I must do my best to praise so that more people find something new to be astounded by and enjoy.

(Below, the interior of Laughing Lodge, a comedy club, where when the stand up is good, the heads laugh)

Why post about this book, this author?

Do you remember the first time you discovered Miyazaki's "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" or Castle In the Sky"? How about Iron Giant? Princess Bride?

Because, I kid you not, there IS a Princess Bride reference!  Max's Miracle revival tablets for the mostly dead, not the all dead. Yes, that really blows my mind that there is a Princess Bride easter egg in this book!

Sharing this book with you, is like the first time seeing those movies. Discovering an artist that is a world builder with the narrative concept perfected on all it's components, and who has the incredible artistic talent to bring all the large and small pieces of it to life on the page.

Of COURSE I wonder, why the hell some animation studio like Studio Ghibli, Laika, Sony, Cartoon Saloon, Titmouse, or Aniventure ( Anyone else think I know way too much about animation and art for a car guy?)  hasn't reached out and offered Mike a movie deal

So, what's the connection with this book, and this blog about vehicles? Tank/tractor/dozer treads. Well, caterpillar drive mounted trees, specifically, and steam punk.

in the way that the cities in Mortal Engines were mobile, so, are these trees.

Why? Don't know, don't care. That's way past the point of just sitting back and enjoying this astounding art book which world builds with a plethora of characters, beginning with the intro - that the title begins with - Agnimu Rehpot

So, Agnimu is the narrator of this book, and it's HIS notebook of wanderings and observations of the places, people, creatures, and way of life of this world that Mike built.

the above image is one of many that dive into a building/environment to show with extreme detail, the inner workings of a business, or windmill, etc and every one was worth the time to analyze and study

Above is a residence, made from the many giant pumpkins (inspired by Linus looking for the great pumpkin every Halloween?)

Also, when you buy this, get the Yadda Yadda Yadda book.... it's the part 2/volume 2. Yup, it's a must have.   https://www.etsy.com/shop/MAYDAK?ref=shop-header-name&listing_id=707170022&from_page=listing&dd_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.agnimurehpot.com%2F

This was a 3 hour post. It takes a long time to look for the art.
