a video of a Detroit parade of truckers pulling all sorts of floats, flatbed's, etc, with tractors, a yacht, a 1263 year old tree trunk section, steam calliope, cars, dumptrucks, stage coaches, delivery vans, etc... terrific variety, the most horrid editing I've ever seen though
damn shame there aren't cool parades like this anymore, or Worlds Fairs.
Thanks for a glimpse into Post-WWII Detroit. As for the editor of this video - PHOOEY! We do not need artificial glittering lights messing up t pictures. He also seems to have put some portions in again. If you find the original, please send us all the URL.
Welcome! Yes, I saw the yacht 3 times... the steam calliope 3 times also. I'm not sure about the glitter... it's a very weird thing, but it could be degradation of the film stock from bacteria. I've seen it on a lot of black and white photos, some on Shorpy. Might be some weird glittery thing... but it boggle my mind why anyone would bother for a vehicle parade film
Those were the days, so much time spent on some of the floats. If I may add that the Fords were of 1946 so that might zero in on the year of the parade. Thanks again Jesse.
