A beer run in the early 1980s. See George? Crazy ass beer runs!

On a unicycle... I have never heard of any such thing... how the hell do you kick off and get moving with 2 cases of beer?

    1. agreed... hopefully the situation was the time honored tradition of " you fly, I buy" and he made the run, but got free beer in return

  3. Jesse, On a earlier post about Beer runs in Vietnam you poste a picture of a Huey with a pallet of beer in the doorway. That was probably a company run to Saigon to buy beer for the Officers and NCO club. We use to occasionally fly hot meals to to the troops in the field. We also at time delivered iced down cold beer to those troop allowing two beers per man. I believe that the hot meals we delivered were much better then what our mess hall served. Just so you know I seldom ate in the mess hall and I never once ate breakfast on a mission day. Once we lifted of there were no latrines period. Lived on C-rations and canned goods from the PX. Also got care packages from my parents and friends. Ate a lot of sardines and still do to this day. I have about three cans in the cabinet a I speak.

    1. the canned foods and C Rats might have been less prone to getting you sick on undercooked food!
Wow, ice cold beer delivery must have made you near god like on sight!
Sardines? I've never had them, but when I was a teen, there was a similar fish we would net by the dozens, called Smelt.
Stupid name for a fish, but tasty when grandma cooked them in beer batter, or grandpa smoked them
