Today I Learned that there are a few radio and TV stations that don't follow the K / W convention west and east of the Mississippi River, like this station, KDKA in Pittsburgh. They were arguably the first commercial radio station and they were grandfathered when the line was first created along the eastern edge of Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico, then moved to be the Mississippi.
I also learned that A (.-) and N (-.) were assigned to military stations, and the W (.--) and K (-.-) were made by adding a dash to the Morse code for A and N.
