it's uncommon to find anyone photographing someone mowing a yard, but this is goose with teeth laying gold eggs rare... someone with a cool old weird gas engine mower getting photographed for a family album, and posterity
Not weird. Reel mowers were predominant through the 50s. Still do a better job than a rotary but need to be sharpened more often. Golf courses still use them.
And from the looks of it, it's brand new. I do believe it's a Briggs & Stratton Judging from the decal badge on the front of the gas tank.
