Dozens of narrow gauge hopper cars, and US Army boxcars, sit and rust after being abandoned for nearly half a century in Pennsylvania

  2. That's a great picture of these abandoned rail cars. Look how that tree just grew up through the truck on the hopper car. See, no matter what we do, nature always reclaims it.

  3. That is the East Broad Top railroad near Mount Union PA if I am not mistaken. The EBT is a narrow gauge railroad built to access the coal deposits on Broad Top mountain and they interchanged with the Pennsylvania RR at Mount Union. Notice the dual gauge tracks with a common rail and two across from it, one at 3 foot gauge and the other standard gauge. The shop complex is south of here at Rockhill PA. This was an operating excursion railroad until a few years ago. Just a few months ago a new organization has taken over and the railroad will be operating fairly soon for passenger excursions. The shop complex is a virtual museum that has not changed since the 50's and all of the facilities are still in place.
